Die Stelleninhaberin/Der Stelleninhaber soll das Fachgebiet in Forschung und Lehre vertreten und daher auf dem Gebiet der Entwicklungspolitik und der politikwissenschaftlichen postkolonialen Studien wissenschaftlich ausgewiesen sein. This teaching position is part of the core team of the LAS program; teaching will be in the LAS Major in “Governance”. From a basis in political science, economics, and legal studies, this specialization is concerned with the question how human beings deal with common problems. The teaching load is 12 hours/ week. The School of Politics, International Relations and Philosophy wishes to appoint a fixed-term Lecturer in International Relations. Applications from across the discipline will be considered, although we are particularly interested in those with expertise in the area of critical security studies, preferably with a focus on gender and security. The University of Birmingham is currently embarking a number of high profile projects to create a presence on FutureLearn and deliver Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs). You will be based in the School of Government and Society but working with a wider team in developing high quality and engaging learning and resources for a MOOC with an International Relations/Security Studies focus. You will also be involved in the delivery of undergraduate (and, depending on experience, postgraduate) teaching in International Relations.

We are looking to recruit a motivated, dynamic, creative and highly organised individual to assist us with the development MOOC content and design. You will work with members of staff consisting of academics, web and eLearning staff developing the MOOC to provide engaging resources to students with a broad range of abilities. You will be adept at revising and creating new training materials and in making best use of technologies available for teaching and learning. You will have a demonstrable competence in e-learning instructional design and an enthusiasm for transforming traditional training materials into an interactive e-learning experience.

You will have experience and skill in the use and development of a combination of e-learning, virtual classroom, video, audio, text and graphic components. You will also have experience of teaching International Relations/Political Science at UG level.

The School of Politics, International Relations and Philosophy wishes to appoint a fixed-term Teaching Fellow in Environmental Politics.

This post is designed to cover teaching, administrative and related duties, including supervision of undergraduate dissertations, in the field of Environmental Politics. Successful applicants will have a PhD with an environmental social science specialism (e.g. politics, philosophy, human geography) and relevant proven experience of teaching environmental ethics and/or environmental political theory (including environmental justice) at undergraduate level.

The successful applicant will join a new, interdisciplinary Environmental Studies programme, which is part of a friendly and cosmopolitan school.

Applications are invited for a teaching-only post in the School of Politics and International Relations at the University of Nottingham.

The candidate appointed to this post will be expected to teach up to 18 hours per week, including contributing to the teaching of core modules offered by the School at undergraduate and postgraduate level. A part-time Research Fellow (50% of full-time) is required to work on a new ESRC funded project for a period of two years.

Background
Professor Michael Keating is director of an interdisciplinary programme, which has won a large (£2.5 million) from the Economic and Social Research Council as part of the Future of the UK and Scotland programme http://www.futureukandscotland.ac.uk/ Details of the project can be found within this site at http://www.futureukandscotland.ac.uk/projects/research-centre. The aim is to inform the debate about Scottish independence in advance of the referendum of 2014 and to analyse competing constitutional options. The team includes researchers from the universities of Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Strathclyde and Stirling and the National Institute for Economic and Social Research. The project is for two years from October 2013 and covers the disciplines of politics, economics and law.

Purpose
One dimension of the project is comparative, to study the experience of independence and autonomy debates elsewhere and, particularly, in Quebec, Flanders, Catalonia and the Basque Country. Our ambition is to elaborate a comparative project to follow the present one. In the meantime, the main responsibility of this post will be to follow developments elsewhere, to provide up-to-date information for the web site and to collaborate on comparative analysis of the independence and devolution questions. The work will be done from web-based sources, media and secondary material although there may be some opportunities for travel.

As this post is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council it will be offered for a period of 2 years.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 scale (£30,424 - £36,298 pro rata per annum), with placement according to qualifications and experience.
