Das Sektorprogramm Menschenrechte berät das Bundesministerium für Wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung bei der Verankerung und Umsetzung eines Menschenrechtsansatzes in der bi- und multilateralen Entwicklungszusammenarbeit. Ziel ist es, menschenrechtliche Standards und Prinzipien systematisch in allen Handlungsfeldern der Entwicklungspolitik und -praxis umzusetzen und damit wirkungsvoll zum Abbau struktureller Ursachen von Armut in den Kooperationsländern beizutragen.
Ihre Aufgaben
Ihre Aufgaben umfassen die Unterstützung des für Menschenrechte zuständigen BMZ Referates bei der Erstellung menschenrechtlicher Stellungnahmen, Konzeptionen und Instrumente, die Organisation und Durchführung von Fach- und Trainingsveranstaltungen zum Thema Menschenrechte und Entwicklung sowie die Beratung von Fach- und Länderstrukturen der staatlichen Durchführungsorganisationen bei der Verankerung und Umsetzung eines Menschenrechtsansatzes in der Praxis.
Ihr Profil
Sie haben ein abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium als Volljurist/in oder Sozialwissenschaftler/in mit einem Fokus auf Menschenrechte (z.B. Master in Human Rights Law). Sie verfügen über mindestens vier Jahre Berufserfahrung im Fachgebiet Menschenrechte und Good Governance und haben praktische Erfahrungen in der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit gesammelt. Sie bringen Kenntnisse in der Umsetzung des Menschenrechtsansatzes in der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit, insbesondere der wirtschaftlichen, sozialen und kulturellen Menschenrechte, mit. Sie weisen sehr gute Beratungskompetenzen auf, verfügen über sehr gute Fähigkeiten der schriftlichen und mündlichen Kommunikation. Sie sind ein(e) gute Teamarbeiter/in und auch in Stresssituationen belastbar. Fließende Englischkenntnisse und sehr gute Kenntnisse in Spanisch oder Französisch ergänzen Ihre Qualifikation.

You will have experience of identifying, assessing and developing responses to social and human rights impacts of economic activities. Ihre Aufgaben umfassen die Mitarbeit in Forschung und Lehre im Bereich Internationale Beziehungen und Politische Ökonomie sowie die Durchführung eigener Forschungsprojekte. Die lehrstuhlbezogenen Aufgaben beinhalten die Durchführung von Lehrveranstaltungen im Umfang von 1-3 SWS pro Semester, die Betreuung und Beratung von Studierenden und Doktorierenden und die gelegentliche Übernahme administrativer bzw. organisatorischer Aufgaben. Eine Einbindung in und Mitarbeit an Forschungsprojekten des Lehrstuhls ist möglich und erwünscht. Gelder für Konferenzreisen etc. stehen in begrenztem Umfang zur Verfügung.

Voraussetzungen für die Stelle sind

• Erfolgreich abgeschlossene (bzw. demnächst abgeschlossene) Promotion im Bereich Internationale Beziehungen, vorzugsweise Internationale Politische Ökonomie und/oder internationale Institutionen.
• Besonderes Interesse an und Befähigung zum wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten, nach Möglichkeit nachgewiesen durch international sichtbare Publikationen, Einwerbung von Drittmitteln und andere wissenschaftliche Aktivitäten.

Die Stelle ist zunächst auf 3 Jahre befristet, mit der Möglichkeit einer Verlängerung bei exzellenter Forschungs- und Lehrleistung. Das Gehalt beträgt zwischen 47200-63000 CHF/Jahr, wobei eine Aufstockung der Stelle durch die Einwerbung von Drittmitteln erwünscht ist und aktiv unterstützt wird.

Der / die Bewerber(in) soll über erste Berufserfahrung verfügen. Erwartet wird ein überdurchschnittlicher, durch internationale Erfahrung angereicherter Hochschulabschluss, vorzugsweise in Politikwissenschaft / International Relations. Der Exzellenzcluster „Kulturelle Grundlagen von Integration“ wurde 2006 an der Universität Konstanz aus Mitteln der Exzellenzinitiative des Bundes und der Länder eingerichtet. Er begreift sich als interdisziplinäres, international eingebundenes Netzwerk, das originelle Forschungsvorhaben zu Fragen von Integration und Desintegration im Rahmen einer kulturwissenschaftlichen Grundausrichtung fördert.

Im Exzellenzcluster werden Forschungen aus der Geschichts-, Literatur- und Medienwissenschaft, der Politik-, Verwaltungs- und Rechtswissenschaft sowie der Philosophie, Soziologie, Ethnologie/Kulturanthropologie und Kulturtheorie zusammengeführt.

Die künftige Stelleninhaberin bzw. der künftige Stelleninhaber soll in den internationalen Beziehungen und der Regionalismusforschung ausgewiesen sein. Sie/Er sollten einen Forschungsschwerpunkt in mindestens einem der folgenden Themenbereiche haben: Politische Ökonomie in regionaler Perspektive; Prozesse regionaler Integration und Sicherheitskooperation; Interne und externe Faktoren des Aufbaus stabiler Post- Konfliktordnungen; Menschenrechte als Thema der Innen- und Außenpolitik; Interne und externe Faktoren der Stabilisierung autoritärer und/oder demokratischer Ordnungen; Ressourcenkonflikte als Thema der Innen- und Außenpolitik. The appointee will have a PhD in the field of social sciences (preferably in social and cultural anthropology, but also political science or sociology) or in the field of area studies with a proven focus on social sciences. She or he will have excellent knowledge of qualitative research methods, especially ethnographic methods. The successful candidate will have substantial experience in field research focusing on transregional aspects. She or he will have knowledge of at least one non-European language. Experience in teaching internationally and excellent research activities are required as well as experience with acquiring funding for, and carrying out, sponsored research.

The appointee is expected to participate in the development of a research area in the field of Governance of Global Inequalities at the Center for Area Studies. She or he will be prepared to cooperate with colleagues of the Center’s respective research alliances. Furthermore, candidates will be prepared to participate in the teaching of bachelor’s and master’s courses, and, if necessary, in the respective doctoral programs as well as in the courses of the Center for Area Studies.

The successful candidate will have experience in university teaching and research (preferably internationally). Areas of research expertise should include, but are not limited to empirical environmental conflict research, comparative analysis of dynamics of violence and the causes of war, political science research on Africa (experience in field research). Candidates will also be familiar with socio-geographical theories (special theories), aspects of gender research, and qualitative methods of social sciences proven by field research. She or he will have experience with sponsored research and be proficient in English and French. Furthermore, publications in peer-reviewed journals are required.

The appointee will manage a Junior Research Group on the topic Global Change - local conflicts in sub-Saharan Africa. She or he will teach Political Science in the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs and work with colleagues on interdisciplinary research projects of Freie Universität Berlin.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Department wishes to appoint a Teaching Fellow to provide teaching and administration for the MSc in Public Policy. The Fellow is required to teach a course in ‘Theories and Actors of the Policy Process’, ‘Agenda Setting and Public Policy’ and ‘Making Public Policy Work’ to students enrolled on the School’s Masters programmes. The ‘Theories and Actors of the Policy Process’ course is a core course for students enrolled on the MSc Public Policy. Other responsibilities include normal duties of teaching administration, first and second marking on related courses and dissertations, personal tutor responsibilities and supervision of Masters dissertations. The post holder will also carry out the role of Acting Programme Director to the MSc in Public Policy during the first term.

This is a fixed term appointment to cover sabbatical leave from 1st September 2014 to 31st August 2015.

Key Requirements

Candidates should have a PhD in politics or public policy or an appropriate discipline (candidates nearing completion may be considered) and a familiarity with the key arguments and literature in the discipline. Previous experience of teaching at postgraduate level is desirable.

The University of Bath is making a major strategic investment in the Department of Politics, Languages and International Studies (PoLIS). PoLIS wishes to enhance its position as a leading research department by making the above appointment, one of three new roles.

PoLis welcomes applications from scholars working in any area of International Relations, especially Defence and Security. We strongly welcome scholars with a geographical focus on Europe, Africa, Asia-Pacific or Middle East. You will be expected to provide strong academic leadership within PoLIS. The College wishes to recruit a full-time Lecturer in Politics and/or International Relations (Education and Scholarship) to support the delivery of undergraduate teaching in Politics and International Relations at our Cornwall campus in Penryn, near Falmouth. This post is fixed term and is available from 1 August 2014 to 31 July 2016.

The post will include supervision of undergraduate dissertations in IR, delivery of existing undergraduate modules in IR and the design and delivery of research-led option. The appointee will undertake administrative duties within Politics.

The successful applicant will possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by a PhD or equivalent in Politics and/or International Relations, to develop teaching programmes, and teach and support learning in this academic area. The Department of Government, which is one of the leading political science departments in the UK, is looking for a 1-year Fellow to cover part of the teaching responsibilities of Professor Simon Hix, while he remains Head of Department.

Applications are encouraged from political scientists in the all fields of comparative European politics and European Union politics. Candidates should have expertise in the field of legislative politics in the EU/European Parliament and should have completed or be able to successfully complete, their PhD by September 2014 (in political science or a related discipline).

The successful candidate will play a role in the teaching and research activities of the European Politics group within the Department of Government at the LSE. They should have a strong emerging research record in political science/European Politics as evidenced by publications in major political science journals or equivalent, and demonstrate excellent teaching skills. The Centre for Cyber Security & Information Systems covers a wide variety of topics encompassing management and social science approaches to understanding information systems. This includes: Information Capability Management, Cyber Security & Influence, Decision Support and Cognitive Science.

This post will require the successful candidate to conduct both high quality teaching and research predominantly in the area of Cyber Security. The teaching focus will be to help the Centre deliver its existing and planned lecturing load to post-graduate and short course students. The research effort will involve attracting research income and publishing the results of this research in high impact journals.

We require an additional Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, educated to an appropriate post-graduate level, to support and complement our teaching and research activities. The successful candidate will have expertise in at least one of the following areas: Management & Governance, Risk, Organisational Behaviour, Technology Threats & Vulnerabilities and Critical Infrastructure Protection. You will also have a demonstrable interest in Cyber Security.

The Faculty seeks a founding programme director to establish and oversee its new M.A. degree in International Cultural Relations. Expected to launch in January 2015, this programme will provide a high-quality, international learning experience, offered online and supplemented by an onsite seminar in London and Washington DC. The programme is intended to be the pre-eminent programme of its kind for both those working in the cultural arena and those seeking to enter it. The programme aims at improving skills and understanding cultural relations in the national and international contexts. A full-time programme director post will be advertised once the programme is established.

The main duties and responsibilities will be: curriculum development and financial planning; student recruitment, programme promotion, external relations and outreach; identifying and recruiting teachers and staff. Some teaching will also be expected.

The successful candidate will possess at least a master’s degree in international cultural policy, arts administration, international relations or cultural policy. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in both government and international civil society sectors who have on line teaching and course design experience. Candidates should possess significant academic and practical knowledge of cultural relations, cultural diplomacy, international cultural engagement and the creative sector with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in cultural policy, cultural relations or international exchange management.
