Am Institut für Interkulturelle und Internationale Studien (InIIS), gemeinsam mit dem Zentrum für Transnationale Studien (ZenTra), sind im Bereich Internationale Politische Ökonomie (Prof. Sebastian Botzem) voraussichtlich ab 1. August 2014 zwei Stellen als

für die Dauer von zunächst 3 Jahren

zu besetzten.

Die Stellen sind Teil der Nachwuchsgruppe „Transnationale politische Ordnungsbildung auf Finanzmärkten“, die die Herausbildung einer sozialen und politischen Ordnung jenseits von Nationalstaaten erforscht. Das Forschungsvorhaben untersucht institutionelle Regeln, ideelle Grundlagen und grenzüberschreitende Beziehungen von Individuen und Organisationen auf dem Feld des globalen Finanzwesens. Im Mittelpunkt der Forschungsaktivitäten der Gruppe stehen Fragen nach der Entstehung verbindlicher Entscheidungszusammenhänge im transnationalen Raum. Zu den Prozessen der Ordnungsbildung gehören sowohl die Institutionalisierung transnationaler Regeln wie auch Opposition und Widerstand gegen sie. Besondere Beachtung soll dabei privaten/privatwirtschaftlichen Akteuren sowie zivilgesellschaftlichen Akteuren/sozialen Bewegungen auf dem Feld des Finanzwesens zuteilwerden, deren Aktivitäten historisch und vergleichend untersucht werden sollen.

Die Universität Konstanz wird seit 2007 im Rahmen der Exzellenzinitiative des Bundes und der Länder mit ihrem "Zukunftskonzept zum Ausbau universitärer Spitzenforschung" gefördert. Der Exzellenzcluster „Kulturelle Grundlagen von Integration“ wurde 2006 an der Universität Konstanz aus Mitteln der Exzellenzinitiative des Bundes und der Länder eingerichtet. Er begreift sich als interdisziplinäres, international eingebundenes Netzwerk, das originelle Forschungsvorhaben zu Fragen von Integration und Desintegration im Rahmen einer kulturwissenschaftlichen Grundausrichtung fördert.

Im Exzellenzcluster werden Forschungen aus der Geschichts-, Literatur- und Medienwissenschaft, der Politik-, Verwaltungs- und Rechtswissenschaft sowie der Philosophie, Soziologie, Ethnologie/Kulturanthropologie und Kulturtheorie zusammengeführt.

Der Exzellenzcluster vergibt spätestens zum 1.Oktober 2014 folgende Positionen:

Das interdisziplinäre Kolleg ist als Forschungszusammenhang von zwei Postdocs, bislang sieben Doktoranden/Doktorandinnen sowie vier Professoren/Professorinnen aus verschiedenen am Cluster beteiligten Disziplinen konzipiert. Die Nachwuchswissenschaftler/ Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen sind eng in die Forschungszusammenhänge des Exzellenzclusters „Kulturelle Grundlagen von Integration“ eingebunden und gleichzeitig in die Fachbereiche der ihnen zugeordneten Disziplinen integriert. Die Doppelanbindung an Kolleg und Fachbereiche sichert die koordinierte Förderung und Betreuung.

Ihre Aufgaben
Sie unterstützen den Vorstand des CASLMU, insbesondere dessen Direktor, durch die Betreuung der geistes- und sozialwissenschaftlichen Bereiche innerhalb der Fördermöglichkeiten des CASLMU.
Hierzu gehören neben der Organisation von Tagungen und Arbeitsgesprächen die Betreuung des hauseigenen Fellow-Programms und weiterer Förderinstrumente. Dies geschieht in enger Abstimmung mit den Mitgliedern des CASLMU und den betreffenden Fakultäten bzw. Departments der LMU. Darüber hinaus sind Sie mit Aufgaben im Bereich der Öffentlichkeitsarbeit betraut.

Ihr Profil
Nach Ihrem Studium der Geistes- und/oder Sozialwissenschaften haben Sie idealerweise mit ausgezeichnetem Ergebnis promoviert. Überaus wünschenswert ist es, wenn Sie durch Studien- oder Forschungsaufenthalte schon internationale Erfahrungen gesammelt haben. Darüber hinaus wären Erfahrungen im Wissenschaftsmanagement von Vorteil. Kontaktfreude und Teamfähigkeit, ein hohes Maß an Engagement, Selbstständigkeit und Ideenreichtum, sehr gute Ausdrucksfähigkeit in Wort und Schrift, sehr gute Kenntnisse der englischen Sprache sowie ein sicherer Umgang mit den gängigen Office- und Internet-Programmen sind für uns selbstverständlich.

Der Forschungsansatz des Graduiertenkollegs vereint Perspektiven der Kultur- und Sozialwissenschaften, Medienwissenschaften, Literatur- und Filmwissenschaften sowie der Informatik. Automatismen werden verstanden als ungeplante Abläufe, die im Grenzbereich zwischen bewussten und unbewussten Prozessen angesiedelt sind und sich beispielsweise in Form von Konventionen, Stereotypen, Habitus oder impliziten Regeln manifestieren. Wir betrachten Automatismen als Kulturtechniken, die gesellschaftliche Komplexität reduzieren.

Erwartet werden ein abgeschlossenes wissenschaftliches Hochschulstudium in einer der beteiligten Disziplinen, überdurchschnittliche wissenschaftliche Leistungen sowie ein eigenständiges Forschungsvorhaben (Projektentwurf) im Themenbereich des Kollegs. Für die Position als Postdoktorandin/Postdoktorand sind zudem eine überdurchschnittliche Promotion, möglichst in einem der am Graduiertenkolleg beteiligten Fächer sowie Erfahrungen in der interdisziplinären Zusammenarbeit erwünscht.

Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaftliche Fakultät, Institut für Politikwissenschaft

Der Arbeitsbereich Vergleichende Politikwissenschaft und Politik des Vorderen Orients sucht zum nächstmöglichen Termin eine/n Wissenschaftliche/n Mitarbeiter/in (TV-L13)

Die Stelle (50%) ist zunächst auf drei Jahre befristet, es besteht aber die Möglichkeit der Verlängerung.
Ihre Aufgaben umfassen:

• Lehre und Betreuung von Studierenden,
• Mitwirkung bei Aktivitäten und Aufgaben des Arbeitsbereichs und des Instituts, insbesondere in Forschung und Organisation,

Description des tâches

50% du taux d'activité sera dédié à la réalisation d'une thèse de doctorat sur des questions de gouvernance.

50% du taux d'activité au maximum sera consacré au soutien aux enseignements (animation et encadrement de séminaires, appui au cours) en politique comparée.
Participation aux activités du LAGAPE (d'autres tâches institutionnelles mineures pourront être également confiées).

Profil souhaité

- Master en science politique ou titre jugé équivalent.
- Maîtrise du français, de l'allemand et de l'anglais.
- Bonne connaissance de la science politique comparée, des concepts de base et des théories en science politique.
- Bonne maîtrise des méthodes quantitatives et qualitatives est également souhaitée.

Anforderungen:
MA/MSc in political science, geography, economics, public administration or a related area. Applicants are expected to have strong methodological skills, a background in policy analysis or geography and a strong interest in transboundary/European politics and water-related issues. Additionally, skills in Social Network Analysis or spatial approaches and analysis (e.g. GIS) would be a strong advantage. Candidates are expected to have a strong command in English; and speak fluently either German or French.

Wir bieten:
The research project deals with transboundary Water Management in the Rhine River Basin. It especially focusses on the cross-border phenomenon of micropollution and asks how micropollutants can be regulated by different states (Switzerland, Luxembourg, Germany, France and the Netherlands) affected by the same phenomenon. It is an interdisciplinary project integrating political scientists, geographers and natural scientists from the University of Bern and Eawag, Switzerland; and CEPS/Luxembourg. We are looking for a PhD candidate interested in research of the political decision-making processes about micropollution in the mentioned countries; and in cross-border studies focusing on the cities of Basel and Luxembourg. The aim is to conduct a Social Network Analysis and to geo-reference afterwards policy networks into space. Therefore, the PhD will be supervised by political scientists and geographers and gather data in both, Switzerland and Luxembourg.

Sie sind Student/in der Geschichte, Anglistik, Germanistik oder Politikwissenschaft. Erwartet werden exzellente Deutsch- und hervorragende Englischkenntnisse sowie ein sicherer Umgang mit den gängigen Office-Anwendungen insbesondere Microsoft Excel.

The Center for Security Studies (CSS) is a center of competence for Swiss and international security policy. It offers security policy expertise in research, teaching and consultancy, and operates the International Relations and Security Network (ISN). Our Nuclear Weapons Policy Research Group is seeking to employ, at the next possible opportunity, a

Researcher (80 - 100%)
to conduct research on nuclear weapons policies, nuclear proliferation and related security issues in an International Relations perspective.

You will contribute to the Center’s research focus on the role of nuclear weapons in international security. Ideally, you combine a strong expertise on nuclear weapons issues (proliferation, strategy, etc.) with a profound knowledge of International Relations Theory (IRT). Responsibilities will include publishing peer-reviewed articles, co-organizing conferences and collaborating on edited volumes. You will participate in a global network of specialists working on different aspects of nuclear weapons policies, proliferation issues, and IRT and you will have the opportunity to engage in policy-relevant research.

Gesucht wird ein/e international ausgewiesene/r Politikwissenschaftler/in mit einem Schwerpunkt in Chinastudien. Der/die Stelleninhaber/in soll einen Beitrag zu Forschungs- und Lehrtätigkeit am Institut für Politikwissenschaft insbesondere in den Bereichen Internationale Beziehungen, Vergleichende Politikwissenschaft oder Politische Systemlehre mit Bezug zu China und Ostasien leisten. Das Konzept der Ostasienstudien an der Universität Duisburg-Essen verfolgt den Ansatz, die in den Gesellschafts- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften entwickelten Theorie- und Forschungsperspektiven als Leitprinzip in den ostasienbezogenen Studien anzuwenden und so einen Beitrag zur politikwissenschaftlichen und regionalwissenschaftlichen Forschung zu leisten.

Die künftige Stelleninhaberin bzw. der künftige Stelleninhaber soll in den internationalen Beziehungen und der Regionalismusforschung ausgewiesen sein. Neben einer hervorragenden Befähigung zur wissenschaftlichen Arbeit, ausgewiesen durch einschlägige Publikationen, wird auf die didaktische Eignung besonderer Wert gelegt.

Die Aufgaben der Stelleninhaber/-innen liegen vornehmlich im Bereich der Forschung im Rahmen des von der DFG geförderten Projektes „Individualisierte Politische Repräsentation und ihre Grundlagen“. Das Projekt untersucht mit qualitativen und quantitativen Methoden die Handlungsstrategien von Kandidaten und Abgeordneten bezüglich der Frage nach ihrer parteipolitischen Verankerung. Je nach Stelle sind Sie entweder für die Durchführung, die Aufbereitung und die Analyse semistrukturierter Interviews verantwortlich oder für die Vercodung, die Aufbereitung und die statistische Analyse von parlamentarischen Drucksachen. Beide Stelleninhaber/-innen arbeiten an der Entwicklung aller Erhebungsinstrumente mit sowie an der Abfassung des Abschlussberichts.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow (2014/2015)

The University of the Witwatersrand is one of the leading Universities in South Africa and is currently investing substantially in new research initiatives. Funding for one postdoctoral research fellowship is available at the Department of International Relations. The fellowship will be granted for a period of two years, with renewal after one year based on performance and progress. We are looking for a candidate with experience in security studies in Africa, supporting the development of a new research project on the “security development nexus”. Particularly expertise in peacekeeping and peace building is advantageous. Familiarity with the main actors in the field such as the UN, AU and EU is expected. The postdoc will conduct research in coordination with the departmental host but will also be given the opportunity to conduct his/her own research.

Minimum requirements:

1. PhD obtained within the last 5 years
2. Evidence of expertise in security studies in Africa
3. Evidence of research excellence and innovation
4. Familiarity with research methodology (qualitative/quantitative)

Interested in running a key international network which monitors and advocates for reform of the IFIs? Your in-depth understanding of global policy issues and passion for creating change make you ideal for this role as Coordinator of the Bretton Woods Project. You will have extensive knowledge of the operations, social and environmental consequences and governance of the World Bank and IMF as well as other development finance institutions. This will be supported by an excellent understanding of current global political, environmental, social and economic policy debates. As Coordinator you will lead the Project’s management team to facilitate strategic decisions about which issues we should focus on. You will enjoy a wide ranging remit from conducting research and producing high-quality information to doing advocacy with top level officials and providing advice to network members. In your leadership role you will recruit, manage and motivate Project staff as well as maintain relations with key network partners. Important too will be the ability to act as the Project’s public face, giving talks and managing the occasional media work. The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of global development issues, a passion for creating change, excellent management skills and an ability to think strategically and influence diplomatically.

You will be able to contribute significantly to the research activities of the John Paulson Chair in European Political Economy and teach on the MSc Political Economy of Europe. You will also perform such administrative duties as required by the Head of the European Institute and contribute to the Institute more broadly.

You will have a PhD in economics or political economy, preferably with a specialisation in the fields of macroeconomics, international money and finance and have a research interest in optimal currency areas, the optimal design of monetary and fiscal policies in a monetary union and the governance of the Eurozone. You must also have some experience of university-level teaching.

The successful candidate for this position will be expected to join sub-project entitled 1.2, and will work closely with Professor Ben Rosamond and Assistant Professor Niklas Olsen (Saxo Institute, Faculty of Humanities, UCPH). The emphasis of this sub-project is less on understandings and constructions of the changing configuration of the global economy and more on the intellectual frameworks used by policy practitioners. The aim is to assess the degree to which Chicago school neoliberalism operates (and has operated) as a paradigm in EU policy circles, thereby providing a test of the ‘strange non-death of neoliberalism’ thesis.

King’s College London is offering a permanent Lectureship in German Foreign Policy hosted by the Department of European & International Studies to start from 1 September 2014. Detail The successful candidate will have research interests in the field of German foreign policy widely defined and a proven record or potential as an outstanding researcher in this area. He or she will have a completed or nearly completed their PhD in Politics, International Relations or a closely related discipline. They will have the ability to teach to the highest professional standards in foreign policy analysis, German and European foreign policy and German politics at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. They will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, especially the BA in International Relations, the German pathway of the BA in European Studies and the BA in European Politics. They will have pastoral duties as a tutor for students on the BA in International Relations and the German pathway of the BA in European Studies. The job will be located at the Strand campus.

The MA International Relations at the Faculty of the Humanities offers two specializations or programs: International Studies and European Union Studies. International Studies is primarily concerned with the interrelationship between global, regional and national ideas and policies, across time and space. The programme focuses on multiple levels of analysis, bridging the gap between relations among states (international relations) and developments within states (comparative politics). European Union Studies focuses on the processes of European integration from an interdisciplinary angle (History, Law, Economics, and Politics), by a mix of specialist, academic researchers and experts with direct experience in policy-formulation and policy-making.

The candidate will be expected to teach in both programmes. We especially invite International Relations specialists or historians of contemporary international relations with a clear interest in / experience with the external policies of the European Union, to apply. The lecturer will hold a position in the Institute for History.

We are seeking a scholar who can make a significant contribution to our research and teaching portfolio in post-war reconstruction. An ability to contribute in one or more of the following areas would be an advantage: humanitarian action; development practices and management; post-conflict governance and state building; security and conflict; and security sector reform (SSR).

The duties of the post holder will include maintaining or developing an international research profile and undertaking lecturing and tutoring, including on undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing professional development (CPD) courses.

A particular geographical focus upon Africa, Middle East or South Asia is considered advantageous but not necessary. A record of publications commensurate with the candidate’s years of experience and the capacity to develop an international research profile and a PhD in Politics, Post-war Recovery, Development, IR, or a related discipline – complete or close to completion are essential.

The School covers research and teaching across politics, international relations and international development, and is committed to inter-disciplinary research and teaching.
