The University of Münster (Germany) wishes to appoint a two year half-time Research Assistant within the Cluster of Excellence “Religion and Politics in Modern and Pre-Modern Cultures”, research project A2-24 “Foreign States and International Organizations in the perception of Arab publics” under the direction of Prof. Dr. Bernd Schlipphak.
This temporary position is scheduled to start on October 1st, 2014, and will run until September 31st, 2016. Depending on the progression of the project, the position may be extended for a third year. According to the German collective labour agreement for public sector employees (TV-L E 13), the gross salary for the position starts at approximately 1680 € per month during the first year. The regular working hours amount to 19 hours and 55 minutes per week.
The Cluster of Excellence “Religion and Politics in Modern and Pre-Modern Cultures” was established at the University of Münster in 2007 and has been awarded funding through the German Excellence Initiative until 2017. Some 200 academics from 20 disciplines within the humanities and the social sciences examine the sensitive relationship between religion and politics, which has shaped all ages and cultures. Research projects are divided into the fields of research normativity, mediality, integrative procedures, and violence. Aufgaben:
Zu den Aufgabengebieten zählt vor allem die Unterstützung bei der Erstellung der Lehrunterlagen in politikwissenschaftlichen Lehrveranstaltungen, insbesondere im Studiengang „International Relations“ aber auch an der Schnittstelle zu den Wirtschaftswissenschaften in anderen Studiengängen, das Mitwirken in nationalen und internationalen Forschungsprojekten und die Übernahme zugehöriger administrativer Tätigkeiten in der Fakultät Gesellschaft und Ökonomie.

Anforderungsprofil:
Sie verfügen über ein abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium der Politikwissenschaft oder eines verwandten Studienganges mit entsprechendem Schwerpunkt. Fundierte Kenntnisse im
Bereich regionaler Integration und internationaler Organisationen sind Voraussetzung. Grundlegende Kenntnisse qualitativer und quantitativer Forschungsmethoden sind wünschenswert. Praktische Kenntnisse sind von Vorteil. Sie arbeiten strukturiert und selbstständig, sind konzeptionell und analytisch stark und könnensich flexibel auf ein herausforderndes Umfeld und damit wechselnde Anforderungen einstellen. Sie verfügen über sehr gute organisatorische und kommunikative Fähigkeiten sowie über eine ausgeprägte Teamfähigkeit und beherrschen die englische Sprache auf hervorragendem Niveau.

Diejenigen Bewerber/innen, deren Muttersprache nicht Deutsch ist, müssen zumindest über fundierte Grundkenntnisse der deutschen Sprache verfügen. Die Möglichkeit zur eigenen wissenschaftlichen Weiterqualifikation (kooperative Promotion) mit entsprechender Reduzierung des Stundenumfangs im Beschäftigungsverhältnis ist gegeben. Die Stelle ist grundsätzlich auch für Teilzeitbeschäftigte geeignet.

Die/Der Bewerberin/Bewerber soll das Fach Politikwissenschaft mit dem Schwerpunkt Internationale Beziehungen in Forschung und Lehre vertreten. Dies erfordert eine breite politikwissenschaftliche Ausrichtung mit mehreren Schwerpunkten, von denen mindestens einer dem Bereich der Internationalen Beziehungen zuzuordnen ist (insbesondere Global Governance, Internationale Institutionen/Organisationen, Methoden der Internationalen Beziehungen). Erwartet wird, dass die Professur sich in der Forschung in mindestens einen der oben genannten strategisch relevanten Forschungsschwerpunkte der TU Braunschweig einbringt. Daher sind Erfahrungen im Kontext größerer interdisziplinärer Forschungsverbünde unter Beteiligung ingenieur- oder naturwissenschaftlicher Perspektiven erwünscht.

Zu den Aufgaben in der Lehre gehört insbesondere die Mitarbeit im Bachelorstudiengang „Integrierte Sozialwissenschaften“ und im Masterstudiengang „Organisation, Governance, Bildung“ sowie in den interdisziplinären Studiengängen der TU Braunschweig wie „Mobilität und Verkehr“ oder „Medientechnik und Kommunikation“.

Die Stelle ist zunächst befristet bis zum 30.4.2015, eine Verlängerung wird bei Ver­füg­bar­keit der Mittel angestrebt.

In enger Zusammenarbeit mit den Team-Mitarbeiterinnen und -Mitarbeitern unterstützen Sie uns vor allem bei der Dokumentation der Daten, der Pflege von Bibliographien sowie der Pflege unseres Web-Angebotes zu verschiedenen internationalen Umfrageprogrammen.

Das MZES ist ein interdisziplinäres Forschungsinstitut der Universität Mannheim, das sich der Europaforschung widmet. Wir suchen eine/n herausragende/n promovierte/n Sozialwissenschaftler/in mit international sichtbaren Publikationen. Die Einstellung erfolgt für bis zu fünf Jahre nach dem TV-L bis zur Entgeltgruppe 15.

Weitere Anforderungen: Einschlägige sozialwissenschaftliche Qualifikationen, vorzugsweise im Fach Politikwissenschaft; Schwerpunkt in Forschung und Lehre im Bereich der Theorie und Empirie der Geschlechterverhältnisse auch in transnationalen Kontexten, Kenntnisse feministischer Ansätze; Kenntnisse innovativer Ansätze zu Vielfalt (z. B. Das Aufgabengebiet umfasst

• die eigenständige Konzeption und Durchführung einer Forschungsarbeit zur wissenschaftlichen Qualifikation (Dis­ser­tation),
• die aktive Beteiligung an Forschungsarbeiten des Arbeitsbereichs „Politisches System Deutschlands“ und
• die Übernahme einer Lehrveranstaltung im Umfang von 2 LVS.

Duration: 12+12 months. 12 months fellowship awarded upon selection, with the option for another 12 months extension of the fellowship pending successful performance of the fellow in the first 12 months.

Fellowship: 40 000 CZK per month. The selected fellow will be offered a regular employment agreement for 12 months in accordance with the law of the Czech Republic.

The fellow must be in residence in Prague for the entire duration of the fellowship. Office space will be provided at the premises of Metropolitan University in Prague.

Eligibility criteria: A PhD degree in a social science discipline relevant to the study of security, broadly understood. The fellow must have officially obtained the PhD degree no later than the starting date of the fellowship and no earlier than 3 years before the starting date of the fellowship.

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on a project funded by the UK’s Economics and Social Research Council (ESRC). This inter-disciplinary project will seek to understand the emergence of ports and transport infrastructure in the Arabian Peninsula at the conjuncture of wars, military movements, and commercial activities.

You will be based at SOAS in London and will conduct primary research in the Arabian Peninsula, including interviews and research with textual materials (archives, media texts, business reports, etc.).

Annual leave is 30 days pro rata per annum plus statutory and bank holidays. USS pension scheme will be available.

The successful candidate will be employed by Jaguar Land Rover and will help Jaguar Land Rover understand how the changing political economy towards a multi-polar world impacts on large international corporates’ strategy and investment decisions, and how this may also impact on social responsibility targets. Working within the Executive Directors’ Office, the post will provide report into Government Affairs and CSR departments. The successful candidate will work for a period of three years. Two short secondments are foreseen in Hamburg and Shanghai. The work for JLR is particularly concerned with public-private relations and the promotion of global social standards (see further particulars).

You will further the School's international reputation for teaching in Politics and International Relations, along with contributions in administration. Your profile will include expertise in Middle East Politics, and/or International Relations of the Middle East.

The appointee will join an established research, policy and practice, and teaching team at INCORE involved in the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate Peace and Conflict programmes, as well as local and international research and policy work. S/he will be expected to play a key leadership role within INCORE with respect to both teaching and research, further the policy and practice agenda in Northern Ireland and internationally, and will work actively to consolidate peace.

The successful applicant for this highly prestigious position will be an influential and high profile individual with integrity and a passion for peacebuilding. S/he will have an outstanding research track record with evidence of engagement in policy and practice work in societies experiencing political conflict or emerging from conflict.

You will be responsible for delivering and assessing modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the area of Peace and Conflict Studies and International Relations. Duties also include teaching and supervising postgraduate work at Masters level and contributing to the management and administration of the Department. You will hold a PhD in a relevant discipline, or be working towards this qualification (or have equivalent experience/qualifications). It is essential that you have a proven teaching ability with the ability to manage resources effectively, have a creative approach to problem solving and excellent communication skills.

You will help the department to design, conduct, analyse, report and publish a study on the methods used by police at borders and border guards to identify the victims of trafficking in human beings. Subsequently, your duties will extend to helping draft SURVEILLE reports for the European Commission, including reports on the ethics work of the IERG’s ethics advisory service. You must be willing to travel internationally as and when the role requires it.

You must be able to help plan, organise, carry out and analyse focus groups both in the UK and abroad. You must have a working knowledge of applied ethics and be able to apply moral theory to practical circumstances. You will have the ability to prepare and make presentations which are appropriately pitched to different audiences. Some knowledge of issues in technology and ethics is desirable.

In collaboration with other Security staff, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will deliver undergraduate and postgraduate core and specialist modules on terrorism, security and related topics as per the directorate’s needs. In particular they will play a leading role on both the attendance and distance learning versions of the MA programme in Terrorism and Security. They will also be expected to contribute to programme leadership, management, administration & an admissions tutor role. We are especially interested in candidates who can provide teaching and research in the areas of global terrorism; and terrorism and security in the Middle East In addition, it is anticipated that the postholder will supervise and mark postgraduate and undergraduate dissertations in the area of terrorism and security. The successful candidate will have an established or emerging research profile in the field of terrorism and security with the ambition of being returned to the next REF exercise.
