Die Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn sucht für das Forum Internationale Wissenschaft, Abteilung Demokratieforschung (Leiter: Prof. Dr. Rudolf Stichweh), zum nächstmöglichen Zeitpunkt, befristet für die Dauer von zwei Jahren (Verlängerung über Drittmittelantrag wird angestrebt) eine/-n Wissenschaftliche/-n Mitarbeiter/-in als Doktorand/-in, 65 %.
Das Forum Internationale Wissenschaft hat seine Schwerpunkte in der Demokratieforschung, Wissenschaftsforschung, Entwicklungsforschung und der Forschung zur digitalen Gesellschaft und verknüpft die Universität Bonn mit nationalen und internationalen Organisationen in diesen Forschungsbereichen.
Sie erarbeiten ein eigenständiges Promotionsprojekt im Rahmen des Forschungsprojekts "Politische Inklusion: Demokratie und ihre Alternativen" im Bereich Demokratieforschung und wirken an einem Drittmittelantrag zur Verlängerung der Stelle mit; an allgemeinen Belangen und Veranstaltungen der Abteilung für Demokratieforschung arbeiten Sie mit.

Call for Applications für das Gemeinschaftsprojekt "Legitimation und Selbstwirksamkeit: Zukunftsimpulse für die Parteiendemokratie" des Progressiven Zentrums, der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung sowie der Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung.

I. Das Projekt

Für das Projekt "Legitimation und Selbstwirksamkeit: Zukunftsimpulse für politische Parteien" sucht das Progressive Zentrum sieben Visiting Fellows als Mitglieder einer Arbeitsgruppe. Die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung sowie die Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung sind Kooperationspartner im gemeinsamen Projekt. Arbeitszeitraum ist Oktober 2014 bis Juni 2015.

Ziel der interdisziplinären und überparteilichen Arbeitsgruppe ist, innerhalb dieses Zeitraumes neue Perspektiven auf das Thema innerparteiliche Innovation zu entwickeln sowie konkrete zukunfts- und lösungsorientierte Ideen für die Parteiendemokratie zu erarbeiten. Der Fokus der Projektarbeit liegt dabei nicht auf der Analyse des Status Quo, sondern vielmehr auf der Kernfrage, mit Hilfe welcher Veränderungen Parteien gesellschaftlichen Wandel besser aufnehmen, die Anschlussfähigkeit für Partizipationswünsche verbessern und damit ihre Legitimität erhöhen können. Konzepte und Ideen der Demokratie- und Parteienforschung, der Organisationsentwicklung aber auch der Psychologie und der Neurowissenschaften finden hierbei besondere Berücksichtigung. Eine offene Frage ist dabei, inwiefern Erkenntnisse und Ansätze aus diesen Bereichen sinnvoll für politische Parteien Anwendung finden können.

Zur Verstärkung unseres Teams suchen wir zum 1.12.2014 für die Dauer von drei Jahren im Programmbereich IV "Herrschaft und gesellschaftlicher Frieden" (Leitung: Dr. Hans-Joachim Spanger) eine/n wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin/wissenschaftlichen Mitarbeiter (50% der tariflichen Arbeitszeit nach Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-H).

Die Stelle ist in dem von der VolkswagenStiftung geförderten Forschungsprojekt "Socioeconomic protests and political transformation: dynamics of contentious politics in Egypt and Tunisia against the background of South American experiences" (Leitung: Irene Weipert-Fenner, Jonas Wolff) angesiedelt.

In Kooperation mit dem ägyptischen Think Tank "Arab Forum for Alternatives" und der Universität Sfax, Tunesien, wird in dem Projekt die sozioökonomische Dimension der Transformationsprozesse in Tunesien und Ägypten anhand der Interaktion von Protestgruppen und politischen Akteuren in ausgewählten Bereichen der Wirtschafts- und Sozialpolitik untersucht. Von der/dem Stelleninhaberin/Stelleninhaber wird konzeptionelle Mitarbeit und die Übernahme von Fallstudien erwartet. Es besteht die Möglichkeit zur Weiterqualifizierung (Promotion) im Rahmen der Projektthematik.

Voraussetzung für eine Bewerbung ist ein zur Promotion berechtigender Hochschulabschluss in Politikwissenschaft. Kenntnisse in der gegenwartsbezogenen Nahostforschung (Orientalistik, Islamwissenschaft, Arabistik) sowie Regionalerfahrung sind vorteilhaft.

Das Kulturwissenschaftliche Institut Essen (KWI) ist das interdisziplinäre Forschungskolleg für Geistes-, Sozial- und Kulturwissenschaften der Universitäten Bochum, Dortmund und Duisburg-Essen. Ihre Aufgabenschwerpunkte:
Mitarbeit im Forschungsprojekt "Fortschrittskolleg NRW: FUTURE WATER" mit dem Schwerpunkt:
Commoning: Ist Wasser ein Allmendegut? Potenziale und Grenzen für die Lösung regionaler und globaler Wasserkonflikte.

Weitere Anforderungen: Studienabschluss und/oder Promotion in Politik­wissenschaft; Forschungsschwerpunkte in den Bereichen der rechtlichen Grundlagen der Politik, der Verfassungstheorie und der Staats- und der Institutionentheorie; Kenntnisse einschlägiger sozialwissenschaftlicher Methoden sowie der politisch-­rechtlichen Aspekte von Gender und Vielfalt. Umfassende internationale Lehr-und Forschungserfahrung; Publikationen in begutachteten Zeitschriften; Erfahrung in der Einwerbung und Durchführung von Drittmittelprojekten. Erwünscht sind darüber hinaus ideengeschichtliche und rechtsphilosophische Kenntnisse zum Verhältnis von Politik und Recht sowie Erfahrungen in der Betreuung und Umsetzung von Aktivi­täten des Wissens- und Technologietransfers (z. B. Ausgründungen).

Für die Mitarbeit im Welcome Center, das derzeit eingerichtet wird, suchen wir zum 01. Oktober 2014 eine/n engagierte/n 2 Beschäftigte
mit je 60 v. H. d. regelm. Arbeitszeit - E 9 TV-L HU für die Betreuung von internationalen Forschern/-innen, Promovierenden und Gästen, befristet für 36 Monate.

Ihre Aufgaben:

• Unterstützung und Ausbau der Internationalisierung in der Leibniz-Gemeinschaft
• Stärkung der internationalen Präsenz der Leibniz-Gemeinschaft und ihrer Einrichtungen
• strategische Identifizierung und Erschließung von Regionen und Themenfeldern in der internationalen Forschungslandschaft in enger Abstimmung mit dem Präsidenten und den Leitungsgremien der Leibniz-Gemeinschaft

The candidate is expected to cover the complete spectrum of the discipline in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Applicants should have research and teaching experience with a clear focus on the region of South Asia. A research expertise in at least one of the following fields: comparative politics, international relations, or democracy and party system analysis, as well as knowledge of a South Asian language are advantageous. The candidate would be expected to participate in inter-departmental research projects and to collaborate with other departments at the South Asia Institute as well as with the Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies.

A Ph.D. qualification, teaching experience, and a "Habilitation" or academic achievements comparable to the German "Habilitation" (in particular a successfully evaluated Junior-Professorship; see § 47, Section 2 LHG Bad-Württ.) are prerequisites for a successful application.

The Department of Political Science at the University of Utah invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Political Science at the rank of Assistant Professor. The starting date for this position is July 1, 2015. Candidates must show promise of excellence in research and teaching. The Department of Political Science at Hebrew University of Jerusalem is conducting a search for new faculty members, at entry or more senior levels. The Department is accepting applicants in all fields of Political Science.

Scottish Referendum Study
You will have a proven ability to conduct and analyse quantitative research to assist the ESRC-funded Scottish Referendum Study team in developing a survey, engaging research users, analysing results and disseminating findings.

This part time, fixed term post is available from 1 September 2014 for 10 months at 28 hours per week, although we would also consider applications for 14 hours per week or a job share.

The Department of Government is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader (equivalent to Assistant/Associate Professor) to conduct research and teaching in the field of International Relations and Transnational Politics at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. The successful candidate will also (co-)supervise undergraduate projects, MA and PhD dissertations, and contribute to the successful administration and management of the Department. We welcome applications from candidates working in any area related to transnational politics, who can contribute to the Governance Programme, which the Department is currently developing.

You will be based in the Schools of Politics and International Studies and History in Leeds under the supervision of Professor Jason Ralph and Dr. Rachel Utley. You will be required to attend the annual conferences of the British International Studies Association and the International Studies Association.

With a successfully completed PhD (or about to submit) in a relevant field of study, you will have clear research interests in the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) and humanitarian intervention, and experience of conducting qualitative research. Your background may be in a range of fields, including political theory, international relations and international history and you must be willing to work across disciplinary boundaries. You will also work with members of the School of Politics and International Studies and the School of History to organise events, publish in peer-reviewed journals and provide short reports on your research findings for various academic, professional and non-professional audiences throughout the course of the two-year project.

The Department of Politics, Languages and International Studies at the University of Bath seeks to appoint a Teaching Fellow in Spanish History, Politics and Society, who will be responsible for the teaching of First and Final Year Units in Spanish History, Politics and Society, including Spanish International Marketing Communications.

The successful applicant will have a first degree and have or be working towards a PhD in a relevant area, and be a near-native speaker of Spanish. You will have experience of teaching Spanish politics and society in a higher education context, will be passionate about teaching and be able to share that passion with others, motivating students and working as part of a team.

The doctoral work will relate to any area of study of the domestic or foreign politics of North Korea and/or the international relations of Korea (North and/ or South) and will be carried out under the supervision of Professor Hazel Smith. We are particularly interested in proposals that situate the research in the interrelated empirical and theoretical dynamic of security and development. The doctoral student will have international opportunities as IKSU is actively engaged in global research and policy networks.

Applicants must submit a detailed research proposal, a CV, a covering letter and evidence of rigorous academic training, through having obtained a good Masters degree.
