Das Institut für Politische Wissenschaft bietet ab dem Wintersemester 2014/2015 einen Ein-Fach-Masterstudiengang "Politische Wissenschaft" mit den Vertiefungsrichtungen "Internationale Beziehungen" und "Politische Theorie und Systeme" an. Außerdem ist es u.a. am Bachelorstudiengang "Gesellschaftswissenschaften" der Philosophischen Fakultät beteiligt. Für den Bereich Internationale Beziehungen suchen wir einen Mitarbeiter in Lehre und Forschung.

Ihr Profil

• Eine Promotion wird vorausgesetzt (in Politischer Wissenschaft mit dem Schwerpunkt in Internationalen Beziehungen)

• Durchführung von Lehrveranstaltungen im Umfang von 4 SWS im Bereich der Internationalen Beziehungen in den Studiengängen des Instituts

A member of the University of St. Gallen's Center for Energy Innovation, Governance and Investment (EGI-HSG), which is part of the larger federally funded Swiss Competence Center for Research in Energy, Society and Transition (SCCER-CREST), the Institute of Political Science at the University of St. Gallen (IPW-HSG) seeks to appoint a Research Fellow/Assistant Professor in the field of Energy Governance for an initial three year term beginning on September 1, 2014 or by agreement.

The intersection of energy and environmental protection shapes and is shaped by international politics and institutions. The international community has been grappling with establishing effective national and international institutions to limit greenhouse gas emissions such as carbon markets. Understanding the (geo)politics of global energy markets, the international competition in the race for clean energy economies, and devising effective policies for promoting renewable energies will be essential to anticipating and addressing the challenges of energy transitions. With Switzerland and Germany already pursuing a transition from carbon-based to renewable energies and the phase out of nuclear power, many of these questions are directly relevant to ongoing political processes.

The successful applicant will be expected to initiate and conduct research in a number of funded projects related to energy governance in the context of globalized markets and distribution networks and national efforts to transit from carbon-based to renewable sources of energy. His or her research will be directed toward enhancing our understanding of the various dimensions of the energy transition: (1) the intersection of energy security, the environment and international governance; (2) the effects of regional and global interdependence on states' efforts to move toward renewable energies; (3) public policies designed to increase private investment in renewable energy; and (4) public policies designed to shift personal behavior in support of energy transitions. S/he will have completed the doctorate, have a demonstrated interest in basic and applied research, as well as a track record of publications in internationally recognized journals and/or university presses.

Am Fachbereich 02 (Sozialwissenschaften, Medien und Sport), Institut für Politikwissenschaft, der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz ist zum 1. September 2014 eine Stelle als wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in (50%, Teilzeit) zu besetzen.

An der Philosophischen Fakultät der Universität Passau ist ab 1. Oktober 2014 die Stelle einer Lehrkraft für besondere Aufgaben für Politikwissenschaft in der Laufbahn einer Akademischen Rätin/eines Akademischen Rats (BesGr. A13/A14) im Beamtenverhältnis auf Lebenszeit zu besetzen.

Ihre Aufgabe ist insbesondere die Durchführung von Lehrveranstaltungen in deutscher und englischer Sprache im Fach Politikwissenschaft mit Schwerpunkt auf Vergleichender Regierungslehre (einschließlich Governance-Forschung und Policy-Analyse) mit einer Lehrverpflichtung von 18 Lehrveranstaltungsstunden. Sie haben ein abgeschlossenes Universitätsstudium in Politikwissenschaft oder in einem vergleichbaren, interdisziplinär gestalteten Studiengang mit politikwissenschaftlichem Schwerpunkt (Magister, Diplom, Master oder Staatsexamen) sowie eine überdurchschnittliche Promotion in Politikwissenschaft. Ausgeprägte pädagogische und didaktische Fähigkeiten zeichnen Sie aus. In der Regel haben Sie eine mindestens zweijährige hauptberufliche wissenschaftliche Tätigkeit nach dem Erwerb des Doktorgrades ausgeübt und Lehrerfahrung in deutscher und englischer Sprache in Politikwissenschaft an einer Universität.

Am Fachbereich Gesellschaftswissenschaften und Philosophie, Institut für Politikwissenschaft, Professur für Politik, Geschichte und Ökonomie der Bundesrepublik, Prof. Dr. Sigrid Koch-Baumgarten, ist zum 01.09.14 befristet auf drei Jahre mit der Möglichkeit der Verlän- gerung die Teilzeitstelle (50 % der regelmäßigen Arbeitszeit) einer/eines
Wissenschaftlichen Mitarbeiterin / Mitarbeiters (Doktorandin /Doktoranden) zu besetzen. Die Eingruppierung erfolgt nach Entgeltgruppe 13 des Tarifvertrages des Landes Hessen.

Es handelt sich um eine befristet zu besetzende Stelle, die – im Rahmen der zugewiesenen Aufgaben – auch die Möglichkeit zur wissenschaftlichen Weiterqualifizierung bietet.

Zu den Aufgaben gehören wissenschaftliche Dienstleistungen in Forschung und Lehre, insbesondere die eigenständige Lehre im Bereich „Politisches System der Bundesrepublik“ sowie die Mitwirkung bei allen organisatorischen Aufgaben des Lehrgebiets.

Vorausgesetzt werden ein mit überdurchschnittlichem Erfolg abgeschlossenes wissenschaftliches Hochschulstudium (Diplom, Master oder vergleichbar) im Fach Politikwissenschaft sowie fundierte Kenntnisse über das politische System der Bundesrepublik. The GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies / Leibniz-Institut für Globale und Regionale Studien is an independent social-science research institute based in Hamburg. It analyses political, social and economic developments in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East and combines this analysis with innovative comparative research on international relations, development and globalisation, violence and security, and political systems. The GIGA seeks to hire two research fellows.

NCCR Trade Regulation is one of the "National Centres of Competence in Research" funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. It has entered its third phase and is seeking one new PhD student.

Project Description: The PhD candidate will contribute to an ongoing international collaborative project in creating a novel dataset on the design of preferential trade agreements (known as DESTA). The candidate will provide support in the management of the dataset (preparation, data collection, dissemination). At the same time, the candidate is expected to develop his or her own research project related to research in the field of international political economy (IPE) of trade (focus on trade agreements).

Profile: The PhD candidate should already have received training in quantitative and qualitative research methods and should be at ease working with larger datasets. Some knowledge of STATA, R or other software is desirable. Some familiarity with the IPE literature is a plus. Candidates with Master degrees in economics or other fields of social sciences are also encouraged to apply.

The Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Copenhagen, invites applications for a 3-year Assistant Professorship connected to work package 1 of the EuroChallenge project (www.eurochallenge.ku.dk): ‘The European market space and the new global economy: constructions, paradigms and policies’.

The position is available from 1 September 2014.

The sub-project
The successful candidate for this position will be expected to join sub-project entitled 1.2, and will work closely with Professor Ben Rosamond and Assistant Professor Niklas Olsen (Saxo Institute, Faculty of Humanities, UCPH). The emphasis of this sub-project is less on understandings and constructions of the changing configuration of the global economy and more on the intellectual frameworks used by policy practitioners. The aim is to assess the degree to which Chicago school neoliberalism operates (and has operated) as a paradigm in EU policy circles, thereby providing a test of the ‘strange non-death of neoliberalism’ thesis.

Qualifications
It is expected that the position, which is a temporary 3-year position, will be filled by a candidate with academic qualifications in political science or a relevant cognate field at the level of PhD or equivalent.

Further emphasis will be put on the applicant´s qualifications and competence in relation to:

• proven interests in the political economy of ideas, the political economy of the EU and the history of economic thought;
• a capacity to develop a project within the parameters of EuroChallenge, the relevant sub-project and the department of Political Science more generally;

The Post

This fixed term, part-time post is designed to allow a postdoctoral student to develop teaching skills and experience, as well as to complete a programme of publications to advance their academic career. This post is open to postdoctoral students whose PhD was awarded (or will be awarded) between 1 August 2012 and 1 August 2014

You must be able to teach on core first-year modules and other modules as required, as well as to supervise undergraduate dissertations.

This part-time post (65%FTE) is available from 1 September 2014 to 30 June 2015.

You will provide high quality teaching; have a PhD in Humanitarian Studies, humanities or medical science discipline relevant to global health and its history.
