Das Wittenberg-Zentrum für Globale Ethik (WZGE) vermittelt heutigen und künftigen Ent­scheidern aus Wirtschaft, Politik und Gesellschaft alltagstaugliche Prinzipien verantwortlichen Handelns. In Dialogprozessen unterstützen wir Akteure mit unterschiedlichen Interessen bei der Suche nach gemeinsamen Positionen und Problemlösungen. In Seminaren vermitteln wir Einzelnen und Gruppen Grundlagen werteorientierter Führung und zeigen Möglichkeiten ihrer Umsetzung im Alltag auf. Gemeinsam mit Partnern initiieren wir Forschungsprojekte zu
Fragen der Wirtschafts- und Unternehmensethik sowie Entwicklungszusammenarbeit. Dabei arbeiten wir auf der Grundlage einer wissenschaftlich fundierten Ethik-Konzeption, die im Theorie-Praxis-Dialog beständig fortentwickelt wird.

Das Zentrum wird unterstützt von Persönlichkeiten und Organisationen aus Politik, Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft, Kirchen und Zivilgesellschaft. Es wirkt unabhängig, überparteilich, international und überkonfessionell.

Für unser Team in der Lutherstadt Wittenberg suchen wir zum 1. Dez. 2014 (ggf. auch früher) vorerst befristet im Rahmen einer Mutterschutz-/Elternzeitvertretung (voraussichtlich für 3 Jahre) einen engagierten Projektmanager (m/w) in Teilzeit (75 %)

Am Salzburg Centre of European Union Studies (SCEUS) ist ab 01.01.2015 die Stelle eines/r wissenschaftlichen Projektmitarbeiters/in mit einem/r Dissertanten/in zu besetzen. Aufgabengebiet:

Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeit in der BMBF-Nachwuchsgruppe „Globaler Wandel - lokale Konflikte?“: Die Nachwuchsgruppe untersucht die soziale und politische Vermittlung von globalem Wandel und lokalen Konflikten um Land. Sie nimmt soziale Strukturen, Akteure, staatliche Politiken und Institutionen in den Blick. Ziele der Forschung sind die Formulierung empirisch begründeter Aussagen über den Nexus von globalem Wandel und lokalen Konflikten um Land und die Theorieentwicklung zu global-lokalen Wirkungszusammenhängen. Dazu werden Konflikte um Land in unterschiedlichen Ländern Subsahara-Afrikas und Lateinamerikas analysiert und verglichen.

• Mitarbeit in der Projektorganisation und der Durchführung von Veranstaltungen;

Die Professur ist unbefristet. Gemäß § 43 Abs. 1 BbgHG werden Professoren/ -innen im Falle einer Erstberufung in ein befristetes Dienstverhältnis für die Dauer von zwei Jahren berufen. Es erfolgt eine Einzelfallprüfung.

Im Vordergrund stehen Schwerpunktthemen wie die Geschlechterdimensionen sozialer Entwicklung, soziale Gerechtigkeit (Frauen- und Menschenrechte, Diskriminierung), soziale Ungleichheit (soziale Nachhaltigkeit, Development, Armut, Care) und theoretische Grundlagen der Geschlechterforschung. Ferner bearbeitet das IZFG Mandate im Auftrag von ausseruniversitären Institutionen der Hauptstadtregion Bern und nimmt weiter eine zentrale Vernetzungs- und Kooperationsfunktion zur nachhaltigen Verankerung der Geschlechterforschung ein.

The Department seeks to recruit an excellent social scientist (from political science or a related field) to work full time as a postdoctoral researcher on the project 'Party-Interest Group Relationships in Contemporary Democracies: Character, Causes and Consequences'. The project is co-financed by the Research Council of Norway and the University of Oslo (via a scheme called 'Young Research Talents').

The project's point of departure is the common view that the relationship between parties and interest groups shapes the nature of democratic governance. How parties and interest groups behave towards each other may tell us what kinds of interests parties primarily represent and how interest group influence policy-making. However, the relationship between them has been largely overlooked by political scientists to date and taken for granted across different countries, institutional make-ups, types of party systems, and sectors. Our research project will advance the state of the art in this field by seeking to systematically examine (1) the nature, (2) the shaping factors and (3) the consequences for policy-making of party-interest group relationships in long-established democracies across the world. In this way, we also hope to expose the broader role of party-group relationships in democratic governance. The project will be designed as a genuine comparative study of the varieties and impact of party-group relationships on a scale hitherto unparalleled within the social and political sciences. It will break new ground by examining party-group links from both sides rather than using either groups or parties as starting point. The project will be carried out by a cross-national research team of specialists on both parties and interest groups in Europe and the United States (see project webpage) and will be managed at the University of Oslo, Norway (see http://www.sv.uio.no/). The postdoctoral fellow will be a part of this research group and is expected to contribute scientifically to the research project in all its phases. The tasks include supervision and coordination of the data collection in different countries – conducted by local research assistants – together with the project manager. The successful candidate will also be involved in the organization of project workshops. Hence, the position provides the successful candidate with a great opportunity to get valuable project management and publication experience at the international level.

The appointment is for a fixed, non-tenured term of 4 years. The appointee will have a 25% teaching requirement. Successful applicants must therefore be prepared to teach Bachelor and Masters level courses within the Department's course portfolio as well as tutor Master's students. Teaching can be conducted in English. The Department organizes teaching into five sections: public policy and administration, comparative politics, political theory, international relations, and research methods.

Organizational Background

The Hague Institute for Global Justice is an independent, nonpartisan institution established to undertake high-quality interdisciplinary policy relevant research, training and facilitation activities on issues at the intersection of peace, security and global justice. Franklin University Switzerland seeks applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Political Science/International Relations. The position is full-time, renewable and with a clear promotion ladder. The position begins in August 2015, pending funding.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. at the time of hire with specialization in International Relations and European Politics. He/she will also be able to teach undergraduate courses in Political Theory, Public Policy, and/or Political Economy. Consistent with the mission of the University, applicants must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in both teaching and scholarship, have an active research agenda, and contribute to the Academic Travel program, a fundamental component of Franklin’s international, intercultural curriculum. Ideally, candidates will be conversant in one of the official languages of Switzerland and have an established interest in interdisciplinary teaching.

The role is to deliver weekly lectures and lead seminars for one group of up to 20 for this option module in the Spring terms for 3 hours per week for 10 weeks and to mark student assessment and, in addition to supervise and first mark students who choose war or conflict related topics in their dissertations.

These classes are based at the Bloomsbury campus and take place one evening a week in term two, currently scheduled for Monday evenings from 6 - 9 p.m. beginning 5th January 2015.

You will be part of a growing team of academic staff in the Department and wider Faculty working on the theme of migration. While pursuing your post-doctoral research project, you will also engage actively with a major initiative on the Prospects for International Migration Governance (MIGPROSP), led by Professor Andrew Geddes and supported by a prestigious Advanced Investigator Grant from the European Research Council.
