German-Turkish relations are of key importance to the future of both countries in a united Europe. On the basis of this conviction, the Istanbul Policy Center (IPC) at the Sabanci University and the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP) with the support of Stiftung Mercator have established a partnership in the field of academic promotion in order to consolidate and expand German-Turkish and Turkish-European relations in a sustainable manner.Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP), the German Institute for International and Security Affairs in Berlin is awarding a small number of fellowships to Turkish experienced post-doctoral researchers from different disciplines.

Extensive research experience and significant publications are required. The aim is to provide the frame for an independent research paper in close collaboration with SWP colleagues and to offer the fellows insights in policy counselling at SWP. Research results will appear in the form of peer-reviewed SWP publications. The working languages are English and/or German.

Projektzusammenfassung:Staatliche Verfassungen, Gründungsverträge internationaler Organisationen (IO) und Geschäftsordnungen haben gemeinsam, dass viele der Regeln die sich mit Interkationen zwischen Akteuren beschäftigen einerseits Raum für Deliberation schaffen sollen, andererseits die dafür zur Verfügung stehende Zeit begrenzen. Während letzteres die Entscheidungsfindung beschleunigt, können Qualität und Legitimität von Entscheidungen in Mitleidenschaft gezogen werden. Wie gehen IOs mit diesen widerstreitenden Zielen um? Gibt es Unterschiede zwischen IOs und wenn ja warum? Das Projekt erhebt in einem ersten Schritt wie institutionelles Design von IOs Deliberation unter Diplomaten fördert oder begrenzt. Zweitens wird mittels eines Surveys analysiert wie institutionelle Regeln in der Praxis genutzt werden. Dies erlaubt Varianzen und (fehlende) Passfähigkeit zwischen institutionellem Design und diplomatischer Deliberationspraxis innerhalb und zwischen IOs zu erklären. In einem dritten Schritt wird untersucht wie und unter welchen Bedingungen institutionelles deliberatives Design und diplomatischer Deliberationspraxis in IOs die Problemlösungsfähigkeit und Legitimität beeinflussen.

Im Forschungsinstitut der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Auswärtige Politik (DGAP) ist zum 1. März 2017 die Stelle einer Studentischen Hilfskraft im Alfred von Oppenheim-Zentrum für Europäische Zukunftsfragen für das TRAIN Programm zu besetzen. Die Stelle ist zunächst bis zum 31. Dezember 2017 befristet, eine Verlängerung des Vertrags wird angestrebt.Voraussetzungen:

• abgeschlossener Bachelor-Studiengang der Politikwissenschaft oder eines verwandten Studiengangs;
• erkennbarer EU und/oder Südosteuropaschwerpunkt im Studium;
• Erfahrung im Bereich der Projekt- und Veranstaltungsorganisation;
• exzellente Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift;
• zeitliche Flexibilität.

Aufgaben:

• organisatorische Arbeiten bei der Vor- und Nachbereitung von Seminaren des TRAIN Programms (insbesondere Reisevorkehrungen und Organisation des Rahmenprogramms);
• Mithilfe bei der allgemeinen Projektadministration;
• Unterstützung bei der Durchführung von drei mehrtägigen Seminaren in der Region Südosteuropa (April), Berlin (Juni) und Brüssel (November) – die Anwesenheit und entsprechende zeitliche Flexibilität wird vorausgesetzt.

Es handelt sich um eine Stelle mit 10 Wochenarbeitsstunden; die Vergütung beträgt 450,00 EUR monatlich.

Ihre Aufgabenschwerpunkte:

• Sie beteiligen sich an den Forschungsarbeiten des Lehrstuhls in einem der folgenden drei Themenbereiche: Internationale Beziehungen und Global Governance, Friedens- und Konfliktforschung sowie Entwicklungstheorien und Entwicklungspolitik, und streben eine thematisch einschlägige Promotion an.
• In der Lehre wirken Sie bei den Studiengängen des Instituts für Politikwissenschaft mit, v.a. im BA Politikwissenschaft und im Lehramt Sozialwissenschaften. Das Lehrdeputat beläuft sich auf 2 Semesterwochenstunden. Sie sind bereit, didaktische Kompetenzen durch entsprechende Fortbildungen zu erwerben.
• Sie beteiligen sich an Forschungsvorhaben des Lehrstuhls in den oben genannten Themenbereichen.
• Sie übernehmen wissenschaftliche Dienstleistungen, insbesondere mit Bezug auf den vom Lehrstuhl federführend betreuten MA-Studiengang Internationale Beziehungen und Entwicklungspolitik (s. http://www.ib-master.de/).

The Vienna School of International Studies (Diplomatische Akademie Wien) is proposing the appointment of a Postdoctoral Fellow in International Relations for two years, from 25 September 2017. The Centre of Governance and Human Rights (CGHR) invites applications for a postdoctoral Research Associate working on the politics of international human rights and justice interventions in Africa. We are particularly interested in candidates with specialist expertise in rising powers, media, US foreign policy, and global environment challenges. But we welcome high-quality applications from those across the whole field of International Relations.

Responsibilities will include teaching and marking at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. You will be expected to deliver lectures, seminars and supervision, develop module content and materials, and undertake a range of associated administrative responsibilities.
