Libraries as Future Learning Places – the Helsinki Central Library Oodi Concept (Der Vortrag wird auf Deutsch und auf Englisch stattfinden)

Helsinki Central Library Oodi was a present to the Finnish people on the occasion of Finland´s 100th year of independence. Accordingly, the wishes and ideas of residents were an integral part of the library´s design. As a result, a large area of the library´s second floor is dedicated to an urban workshop, where customers can try out new technologies and other equipment to explore one’s creativity. Our aim is to encourage people to use these opportunities with an open mind as part of their everyday life.

“Helsinki Central Library Oodi is a living meeting place at Kansalaistori square, right at the heart of Helsinki. It is one of 37 branches of Helsinki City Library and part of the Helmet library network. Oodi complements the cultural and media hub formed by Helsinki Music Centre, Finlandia Hall, Sanoma House and the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma.
