10. Hölderlin Guest Professorship in Comparative Dramaturgy:  Enrico Pitozzi

We are very glad to welcome Prof. Dr. Enrico Pitozzi (Universitá di Bologna) as the 9th Friedrich Hölderlin- Guest Professor at the Institute for Theatre, Film-, und Media Studies in the Winter Semester 2019/20.

Enrico Pitozzi teaches at the University of Bologna. He has taught in universities of Venice, Padua, Montréal, Valencia, Paris, Porto Alegre. He was senior researcher of the ERC Starting Grant project INCOMMON. In praise of community. Shared creativity in arts and politics in Italy (1959-1979) directed by Annalisa Sacchi. He is a member of the «MeLa research lab» of the IUAV University of Venice and collaborates with «Sensory Studies» of Concordia University (Canada) and the project «Poéticas Tecnològicas» directed by Ivani Santana at the Universidade Federal de Bahia (Brasile). In 2005 he took part in the workshop within the 37th International Theatre Festival of Venice Biennale directed by Romeo Castellucci and in 2013-2014 at the «Biennale Danza College» directed by Virgilio Sieni. Together with Dr. Ramona Mosse, Sophie Osburg and Nikolaus Müller-Schöll, Prof. Dr. Pitozzi organised the Masterclass Sound Knowledge: Dramaturgies, Philosophies and Politics of Listening from February 13-15, 2020.

Prof. Pitozzi held his inaugural lecture On the Edge of the Visible: Theatre and the Dramaturgy of Sound on January 21, 2020 (Campus Westend, IG-Farben Haus 1.411). In it, he explored theatre aurality and the question of alternative perceptual processes, engaging with a wide range of performance examples.
